Experiencing a Bar Mitzvah
Steve and the men had the rare opportunity to experience a bar mitzvah at the wailing wall. The boys of twelve years old are presented with the law in the Torah. They wrap their arm with a cord which signifies that the boy is now to keep the law and commandments. Each wrap is another commandment they are covenanting to keep. The Torah is presented and the boy is to recite the Torah in Hebrew. If he is not sure of words, an older man helps him to get all of the words correct. The last picture is of a nail in the sure place on the wall of the temple. This is something that Jewish men would place in the wall in their temple worship. This was a very moving and touching experience to see these young boys presented into manhood.
